9mm Ammo Favorite

Everyone has their ammo preferences but this one is ours for practice shooting.  Remmington doesn’t make crap and the price is fantastic.  You might be able to find some PMC brand stuff a bit cheaper that rates pretty well but this is more readily available.   I get it at my local Bass Pro for $60, but you can find it other places too.  That equates to less than $.25 a round for good brass cased stuff. These are not your best self defense rounds to stock up on, you’ll want hollow points for that…

Be careful ordering ammo online as shipping costs can kill what seems like a great deal!

Buck Knife Bargain

Never pay full price for a knife as many places put them on special regularly.  Cabela’s always seems to have at least one good one on clearance all the time.  This folding Buck knife is a great deal for $19.88.  It’s got the serrated edge for cutting kindling twigs and is sharp right out of the box.  A great utility knife that won’t make you look like a psycho when you pull it out for every day uses!

Key Chain Multi Tool Half Price

I bought a few of these on a whim and absolutely love them.  I have on on my key chain and I literally use it every day for something.  Cabelas puts them on sale every so often and $4.99 in their bargain cave is the best I’ve seen.  Obviously, this should not be counted on as your main multi-tool.  Check out Gerbers or Leathermans for that.  This is just a cool small item to have that turns out to be very useful!

Our Favorite G.O.O.D. First Aid Kit

This is the “new platoon” first aid kit from www.thearmynavysurplus.com.  It is the best mix of size, utility, carrying case, and price that we’ve been able to find.  I know it’s small and lacks some things that bigger and more expensive kits have (I added quickclot to mine) but what you get for $19.99 can’t be beat.  When you add in the fact that the case is M.O.L.L.E. ready and that Julie who runs the show out there is fantastic, this one definitively qualifies as a “best survival deal.”

Sweet Knife Deal

I’m not one much for thinking I’m going to be Rambo and fight off bad guys with a knife, but it’s still good to have a nice one that’s both useful and intimidating!  I found this great Glock fixed blade for sale at Midway USA.  I recommend the one with the saw blade on the spine for our purposes; great for cutting quick kindling twigs.  It’s pretty rare to see knives like this 30% off and Glock doesn’t make junk!  Get this and check “tactical knife” off your list!  This deal is good through 4/30/11

Ammo Can Spectacular Deal

Cheaper Than Dirt has the best deal I’ve ever seen on brand new, unused, metal ammo cans.  For the newly initiated, these can are water tight, air tight, and offer some EMP protection as a Faraday Box (somewhat debatable, do some research).  Great for storing a whole lot more than just ammo!  Unfortunately you have to buy them by the dozen…great group purchase or to give as gifts.  I filled up one with basic supplies and gave it to each family member as a way to start the preparedness conversation with them!

Great Closeout Price on Boots

L.A. Police Gear is running a closeout on waterproof black Wellco Boots – $39.99  I have no personal experience with Wellco Boots, but they have a long history with the U.S. Military and seem to be a reputable company.  I’m all about waterproof when it comes to boots and this is a phenomenal price!

Update: These boots are down to $29.99 but sizes are getting pretty limited.  I’ll be keeping an eye out for a new “best deal” on boots but will leave this one up int he mean time!
